ABOUT NORTH LAGUNA

Located between Highway 133 and Crystal Cove State Park, North Laguna, like the Village, is known for its walkability and very close proximity to Laguna's beaches, restaurants, shops and other amenities. It is relatively flat in topography and most people who live here rarely use their cars, unless they commute. It is one of the oldest parts of town, where some of Laguna's founders settled. It includes much of the city's commercial businesses, art galleries, hotels and restaurants. North Laguna neighborhoods include Smithcliff, a gated community on the bluffs near Emerald Bay; Allview Terrace, a hillside gated community known for ocean views; and the "Tree Streets," a tree-lined neighborhood closer to the town and beaches, with large street-to-alley lots. North Laguna's amenities include Heisler Park, known for its beautiful gardens, vistas of rugged coves and beaches, and seasonal concerts and events; the Laguna Beach Art Gallery, home to many of the city's masterworks from local artists; the Pageant of the Masters and the Festival of the Arts, a live performance that has been a tradition for decades; the Dartmoor Trail, a short hike that rewards hikers with dramatic views of the city and coastline from Dana Point to Palos Verdes; and Crescent Bay Point Park, a bluff-top park with sweeping views that is a great place to picnic or even have a wedding. Beaches include Picnic Beach, Divers' Cove, Fisherman's Cove, Shaw's Cove and Crescent Bay Beach. These are more rugged than the central Laguna beaches, with each offering its own unique vibe and scenery. Rockpile is a well-known local surf spot visible from the bluffs of Heisler Park. North Laguna is bordered by Laguna Village to the south and Emerald Bay to the north. North Laguna is generally considered to be more affluent than other parts of town, although less so over recent years.
