ABOUT LAGUNA VILLAGE

The central part of Laguna Beach between Highway 133 and Bluebird Canyon Road comprises Laguna Village. This area is known for its walkability and very close proximity to Laguna's beaches, restaurants, shops and other amenities. It is relatively flat in topography and most people who live here rarely use their cars, unless they commute. Many locals consider this part of town to be "the real Laguna Beach." It is the oldest part of town, where Laguna's founders settled and the original art colony that formed the city began in the early 1900s. Laguna Village includes most of the city's commercial businesses, art galleries and restaurants. It's amenities include the downtown area, the "Hip District," the city's high school, public swimming pool, tennis courts, Bluebird Park, several churches and temples, city hall, the community center, farmers' market, and several hotels. Beaches include Main Beach, Sleepy Hollow, Cleo Street Beach, Thalia Street Beach, Anita Street Beach, Oak Street Beach, Cress Street Beach, Mountain Street Beach, Bluebird Beach, Agate Beach and Pearl Beach. These are all connected, making it possible to walk along the shore for miles from Pearl Beach to Main Beach in most tidal conditions. Laguna Village is bordered by Woods Cove to the south, North Laguna to the north, and Mystic Hills and Temple Hills to the east. This part of Laguna has the highest population density, with homes being generally smaller and closer together. Homes on average are more than 50 years old, although many have been remodeled. The typical resident is slightly younger than the town average. This is the preferred location for many who want to make the most out of the local amenities and live the true Laguna lifestyle.
