MYSTIC HILLS
ABOUT MYSTIC HILLS
Situated on the hills just above downtown Laguna Beach is Mystic Hills, one of Laguna's premier "view neighborhoods" known for big ocean views, serene canyon views, eclectic and distinctive architecture, newer construction and larger lots. The typical home here is newer than most in town, in large part because almost half of them were rebuilt new after burning down in the fire of 1993. Architecture here is often very creative, with many modern style homes being built among more traditional craftsman and Mediterranean style ones. With generally larger homes and bigger lots than in many parts of town, Mystic Hills often feels private and remote despite being just minutes to town and the beaches. Homes in Mystical range in price from about $2 million to well over $10 million. The utilities in this neighborhood have been undergrounded, opening the dramatic views even more, and the streets have curbs and sidewalks, unlike much of Laguna. In addition to the amenities of central Laguna, which are very close although generally not walkable, there are numerous hiking and walking trails that lead to the acres of canyons in Aliso and Wood Canyon state park, and also a very small but pleasant neighborhood point park at the end of Pacific Avenue, offering perhaps the best views in the entire town. Mystic Hills is home to the city's only public middle school. Upper Mystic Hills, the area above the 1500 block of Skyline Drive, has flat streets and is great for walking or riding bikes. Mystic Hills is bordered by Top of the World to the east (and farther uphill), Laguna Village to the west, Laguna Canyon to the north and Temple Hills to the south.
